For the first two years of his career from the age of 16, Paul managed (“after much pestering” ) to gain a position at a local studio in Wigan called Castle Sound Lab as an assistant engineer/tea boy in 1985. This period was to leave an enduring impression on Paul: “I worked and learned a lot of the techniques I still use today from Producer Paul Hutchinson who studied under legendary Producer Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars et al)”. In this fertile period the two worked together with various bands and singers including a young Gary Barlow with whom we recorded a demo of ‘A Million Love Songs’ ” …with me, playing drums!”.From 1991 Paul set up rehearsal rooms and later a recording studio with a business partner, were he got to work with the new up and coming indie bands of the North West region of the UK, including Gary Newby (The Railway Children) and The Verve. Demos for ‘She’s a Superstar’ and ‘Gravity Grave’ were recorded by Paul during this period, along with much of the preproduction for the bands first album, ‘Storm in Heaven’.
“During the later half of the nineties I struck up a working relationship -which remains to this day - with Keyboard player and Producer Paul Birchall of M - People/ K Klass/ Kylie Minogue/Cutting Crew”. Together they have worked on the following;
Snake Davis - Three solo albums which featured musicians including Andy Gangadeen, Winston Blissett, Brian Hargreaves, Gareth Moulton, Paul Burgess and Freddy Thompson.
Heather Small - a version of Louis Armstrong’s’ ‘(What A ) Wonderful World’ which was included on her ‘Proud’ single.

Remixes with Hacienda DJ Graeme Park: Sophie Ellis Bextor – ‘Murder on the Dance Floor’ and ‘Get Over You’.
Combination Head: Two albums and a single with another Album currently in production.
Independently, Paul has also worked with - Dave Sharp (The Alarm); Dominic Finley; Hamish Stewart (Average White Band, Paul McCartney); Gordon Haskell Robbie Macintosh (The Pretenders, Paul McCartney) ,The Troubadours, Cloven Hoof, Hohadza, Shaboom, Wired Desire, Small Town, Shades of Kenton Orchestra and The Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra.

Dave Brubeck, Jimmy Smith, Maynard Ferguson, Manhattan Transfer, The Woody Herman Orchestra, The Count Basie Orchestra, The Yellow Jackets, Frank Sinartra Jnr, Joey Defrancessca, New York Voices, Paquito D`Rivera, Eddie Palmieri, The Heath Brothers, Diane Schuur, John Dankworth, Cleo Laine, Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, The Mingus Big Band, Francois Mulder Band, Roy Hargrove, The Clayton Hamilton Big Band, Shakatak and The Guy Barker Orchestra.
This year Paul has been working on a single for up and coming band The Captive Hearts, finishing off tracking and mixing the new album for Oliver/Dawson Saxon (working title, ‘White Hot Metal’) and a new album for the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra .
As well as the studio, recent live gigs have included The Albion Band and this years 25th Festival Highlights to include trumpeter Bobby Shew, Curtis Stigers and Take 6.
